Tour of Norland Moor Trail Race

The race was cancelled in 2016 due to flood damage, but is back for 2017 with a lovely new start to the route. More like a Trail Race than a Fell Race

Race Route
This race  does not have any technical ascents or descents, but does have some rough ground on the moor. Trail shoes are recommended but not essential.
The 'Tour of Norland Moor' starts 0.7k (8/10 minutes walk) from the excellent new facilities of Copley Cricket Club and finishes in front of the Cricket Club.
The race starts with a flat section on the road and dirt tracks, before a lovely flagged steady climb over fields up to North Dean Road (a rough paved bridletrack) where you take a sharp right along the road. After approx 200m there is a 180 degree left turn (at the rocks to stop vehicles), and then a marshalled right turn up the bridleway that after about 800m meets Turbury Lane.
A marshalled right turn and approx 600m of road (Turbury Lane) leads you to the partially flagged 2.9 mile clockwise loop of Norland Moor….don't forget to take in the great views at this point! You enter and leave Norland Moor at the same point, and this area is marshalled.
Upon leaving the moor, you turn right and retrace your steps for a few yards, before taking a left turn back down through some fields, all flagged. Those of you familiar with Calderdale Way Relay Leg 1 will recognize this field, though today you'll be running the 'wrong way' down it.
Then it's through a stile, following a path through the woods, and then you run back down North Dean Road (the bridletrack you ran up at the start) and retrace your steps through the fields.
When you reach the start point, you turn right and follow the river bank, then pass under a railway viaduct before you take a left turn through a gap in the wall into Copley CC and the finish area. Enjoy it!
