Halifax Harriers had 10 runners competing in the Trimpell 20 race at Lancaster on Sunday 14th March, run on footpaths and cycle tracks along the side of the River Lund. Conditions were good apart from the final two miles which were into a slight head wind and seemed hard going on tired legs. Most of the 400 runners were using the race as preparation for next month's London Marathon.

The Halifax Harriers had 3 finishers in the top 25, with Ian Whitehouse first back in 17th place (2:01:50), Lee Buckwell 9 seconds behind in 19th place (2:01:59) and Damian Cole a further 2 minutes behind in 25th place (2:03:59).

Andrew Wiggins was next back (2:06:33) with Raymond Hall finishing in 2:16:44 taking the 3rd vet 60 place.

The race finished with 2 laps of Salt Ayre running track and it was here that Dene Townend just managed to pass Adrian Royston with 100 metres to go, with times of 2:24:57 and 2:25:04 respectively.

Geraldine Roby was the first Halifax lady back in 2:45:36. David Cooper (2:52:32) and Claire Plunkett (3:14:13) being the other runners.
