The Norland moor trail race starts at Copley Cricket Club with a steep climb up North Dean Road (paved bridletrack). A marshalled right turn up a bridleway with approx 600m of road (Turbury Lane), leads into a 2.9 mile clockwise loop of Norland Moor (as in previous years). The route then leaves the moor with a left turn and then a short rocky path down to Pickwood scar. This is followed by approx 500m of road, and then a sharp right turn (caution - cobbles slippy in the wet!). Then, the main route change is a marshalled left turn down the footpath to Hollas bridge (previously the course went down the track past the farmhouses) and then through the tunnel under the railway. The route then goes over the river with a right turn by the canal. Here the route again changes from previous years, and you follow the riverbank back towards Copley rather than straight through the field. The final section goes under the railway viaduct and finishes in the grounds of Copley cricket club.
The race route is partially marked.
