Come and join
us
Halifax Harriers AC formed in 1884. We are members of the North of England Athletic Association (NoEAA) affiliated for Track and Field, Cross Country, Road and Fell running.
Everybody is welcome to join the Harriers (minimum age is 8 years), no matter what your ability. Please don't be put off if you've never run before....you just join in and do as much of the sessions as you like, at a pace you're comfortable with!
Read and print our leaflet about training times and membership fees for 2008 .
Sessions for all abilities. Read more here including who to speak to.
Where and when?
Our home base is the athletics track at Spring Hall on Huddersfield Road, about 1 mile out from Halifax Town centre, and we train on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
To get there, head out from town on Huddersfield Road, past Halifax plc Head Office, past the Swimming Baths and the Shay Football Ground. Go through the traffic lights by the bus garages, and Spring Hall is situated on your left. Streetmap link.
Tuesdays:
Age 8 to 11 - 6 till 7pm. Emphasis on fun rather than competition.
Age 12 to seniors - 7 to 8.15pm - Sessions are held either on the track or on the roads in the surrounding area. There is also a sprint specific group that trains on the track at this time.
Thursdays:
Same times and sessions as Tuesdays, plus a long fast 6pm run group for the more experienced runner / racer.
If you do
want to join us, just turn up any Tuesday/Thursday...there's no need to make any arrangements in advance - just do as much of the session as you like at a pace you're comfortable with!
Annual membership is £25 for under 11's (minimum age 8) rising to £40 for over 19's including full use of the track. Fees are reduced after the 1st July for the remainder of the year. New members can come along and train for a few weeks before taking any decision to join as full members.
Hopefully all the info you need is here on our website, but if need any additional info, you can email us from the Contact Us page.
