Senior Training Groups

Training is from Spring Hall Athletics Track, Huddersfield Road, Halifax. Track speed training is available every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm. We have a number of groups suitable for all abilities from beginners to fast runners.

There are track and field seniors as well as the road running groups below. New athletes. or athletes returning to the sport after time away, are most welcome to come along to train and eventually compete in Track and Field meetings.

Each year we arrange training for  Spring Marathons starting in January. Members of other clubs and unattached runners are welome to train with us.

Keith

Beginners

7:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Keith is the leader of this group with assistants Derek and David, and will ensure you have plenty of fun!  Runs are at an easy pace for those just starting out running. Training runs are approximately 2 to 3 miles alternating running & walking to suit the group.

Ken

Improvers - stage 1

7:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Ken & Jeff are the leadesr of this group. Runs are at a steady pace for the runner who is still building stamina, speed and confidence. Training runs are approximately 4 to 6 miles with short stops throughout the run to re-group as required.

Suitable for anyone running a 10k in 55 to 65 mins

Sarah Kidd

Improvers - stage 2

7:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Sarah & Michelle are leaders of this group. Runs are at a faster pace for the runner who is entering races and looking to improve their speed and endurance. Training runs are approximately 5 to 7 miles with stops to re-group as required.

Suitable for anyone running a 10k in 50 to 55 mins

Mark and Liz

Improvers - stage 3

7:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Liz and Raymond are leaders of this group. This group is for intermediate level runners.Training will be aimed at improving 10k and half marathon times.

Tuesday is track based training at Spring Hall.

Thursday runs are approximately 6 to 8 miles with stops to re-group as required. 

Suitable for anyone running a 10k in 50 mins or faster

Ray

The Fast Group

7:00pm on Tuesdays for track work and 6:00pm Thursdays for road/trails

Sarah & Matt are the leaders of this group. training runs are at a steady / fast pace for the competitive runner. (Suitable for all distances from 10k to marathons) To train with this group you should be capable of running a 10k in 45 minutes or faster. Runs will be 8 to 10 miles on the road in winter and trails in summer with re-grouping stops as required.

Track work on Tuesdays will be led by Phil.
