U13s Cross Country
The Halifax under 13s girls were out in force for the first race of the season, and took 5th team prize overall. Holly Callaghan led the girls home in a superb 3rd place, finishing just 8 seconds behind the race winner. Rebecca Sullivan and Jennifer Lees finished very closely behind to take 5th team place. Leah Shaw and Mollie Jagger ran them close, to finish a great days performance by the girls. The under 13 boys were represented by Jerome Castelow, who finished in a superb 6th place, just 38 seconds behind the race winner! The under 13 girls really went from strength to strength at Bramley to take 3rd team place! Well done to Holly Callaghan who had a superb run of 11.33 to take 1st place overall in a field of 48 runners. Jennifer Lees (16th), Leah Shaw (24th) and Mollie Jagger (26th) all supported Holly and turned in a great team performance for the club. In fact Holly and Mollie were so encouraging of the senior men and women during their races, running round the course shouting encouragement, they've been elevated to the position of 'Official Team Motivators'!! Jerome Castelow was again the sole Halifax runner in the U13 boys field, but once again showed his class with a superb 7th place, finishing within a minute of the winner......come on lads, let's give Jerome a bit of support out there! Holly Callaghan once again led the Halifax under 13 girls home, finishing in 12th place. Holly had a fast start but fell whilst with the front runners and her leg was cut by another runners spikes. That didn't stop her though and she bravely battled on, finishing just 34 seconds behind the race leader! Rebecca Sullivan and Jennifer Lees also had great runs, finsing just 7 seconds behind Holly to take 4th team overall. Leah Shaw and Mollie Jaggar closely followed, and all the Halifax girls finished within 2 minutes of the race winner. Jerome Castelow once again was the only representative for the lads - once again he had a great race and finished in a superb 7th place, finishing in 7.28, just 24 seconds behind the race leader.
