U20s & Seniors Cross Country
The senior ranks took to the first race of the new season in numbers. In a field of 98 under 20 and senior ladies, the Harriers fielded 6 runners led home by Sarah Billington in 27th place overall, just a minute and a half behind the winner. Sarah was supported in the team prize by Carole Fryer and Amy Crabtree to take 9th team. Holly Page, Linda Crabtree and Lynne Robinson all followed very closely, to complete a fine days running by the ladies. The U20 and senior men had no less than 10 runners out in field of 232. Fell sensation Johnny Hare was first home in just 36.55, and supported by Mark Mason and Andy Thorpe, Halifax took 6th place which was a great performance in the face of competition from the likes of Leeds City, Bingley, York and Pudsey & Bramley. Soon to follow were Mark Crabtree, Mick Fryer, Dave Bancroft, Ben Crowther, Steve are, Keith Midgley and Heath Reilly. The senior ladies were only represented by 3 runners at Bramley, so couldn't gain a team place, but still they still performed well in a field of 107. Amy Crabtree led the ladies home in a swift 22.03 (45th), closely followed by Linda Crabtree in 23.04 (60th) and Lynne Robinson 23.16 (64th). The senior mens field continues to draw over 200 runners, and 12 Harriers took to the 4 lap hilly grassland course taking 7th place overall. Johnny Hare was again the 1st Harrier home in a superb 9th, just a minute behind the race winner. Mark Mason (23rd), Andy Thorpe (40th) and Mark Crabtree (67th) supported Johnny well in the team prize. Michael Fryer (73rd), Ryan Barker (99th), Adrian Royston (123rd), Craig Empsall (127th), Keith Midgley (164th), Heath Reilly (172nd), Mark Gaughan (185th) and William Sage (193rd) made up the rest of the Halifax crew!
