Halifax Harriers races 2008 Race Calendar Helen Windsor 10K
From Greetland All Rounders club - Wednesday 2nd July, 7.30pm start, £7 club £9 UA, plus £1 extra on the day. A popular 10K on the roads around Greetland and Norland. Minimum age 15. Max entry 300. Not a PB course, but very scenic and always attracts a large field. Starts on the B6113 Rochdale Road, just in front of Greetland All Rounders club. Down the B6113 then left onto Turbury Lane, then Clough Road into Norland. Then it's left onto Shaw Lane across the top of the golf course. After the Moorcock pub, the road bends left and climbs slightly up Butterworth End Lane, then drops and flattens as you approach the crossroad at Barkisland. At the crossroads it's right then first left on Jackson Lane and up Rishworth Road. At the top you then turn sharp left and run back down the B6114 Saddleworth Road to Barkisland Church, then you turn left on Scammonden Road past Barkisland Cricket Club, then at the crossroads you came to earlier it's a right turn and follows the undulating B6113 back to Greetland All Rounders club. Norland Moor Trail Race A lap around the rugby pitches of Old Rishworthians spreads the field out before a stiff climb up Dean Road through the woods. After about a third of a mile a sharp left takes you up to the end of Scholes Lane . Then it's a right turn up the bridletrack to Turbury Lane. Right onto Turbury Lane and there's a 500m section of road up to the bridge, then it's onto Norland Moor. You then follow a large flagged anticlockwise loop of Norland Moor, before leaving the Moor at the same place you went onto it. Then it's left and first right briefly onto New Clough Road, before taking a right back off road and down the stony path of Dyehouse Lane to Pickwood Lane . Another short section of road takes you to marshalled turn down the hillside through what looks like somebodys farm track, but it's a public track. At the bottom, bear left and follow the track with the railway track up on your right. A 90 degree right then takes you under the railway, then cross over the river and marshals will send you through the fields back to Copley Cricket Club, follow the wooden path under the viaduct, and round the back of the houses at Copley where you finish in the field back at the Rugby club. 25th Calderdale Way Relay More info to follow.
