The 24th Calderdale Way Relay - Sunday 9th December 2007

Can you spare a couple of hours on the 9th December to help marshall at the Calderdale Way Relay? If so, please contact Linda Crabtree (01274 816517) or Mick Fryer (01706 818033) ASAP.

START TIME 08.00 PROMPT
A 6 leg 50 mile (12,000 feet climb) relay around Calderdale. Start/finish at Old Rishworthians RUFC, Copley, near Halifax (GR085224).

The race comprises 6 stages each with changeover points at road crossings, each stage must be run pairs who must stay together at all times. Teams have to provide their own transport and support vehicles. The route is not flagged or marshalled (except at certain main road crossings, checkpoints and changeover points) and teams are expected to know the route prior to race day.

It is advisable that teams obtain the 'Calderdale Way' booklet. Check with the Tourist Information Centres, in Halifax, (01422 368725) or Hebden Bridge (01422 843831) for the latest prices and availability. Maps required OS 1:25000; SE12 Brighouse; SE02 Halifax; and Outdoor Leisure series 21 'South Pennines'; or 1:50000 sheets 103 & 104.

The CWR committee have entered all the teams on the reserve list into the race to see how we cope with the additional numbers. This years race will have 120 teams.
